Interest

To live is not only to enjoy work, and also to enjoy the things you like to do.

Beside scientific research, I like travel and photography. It is good chance for me to work in different countries. During my spare time, I traveled and visited places, took lots of pictures. You will find some pictures in my album soon. I want to explore the national parks in US, I had this idea since I was in Germany. Now, this dream is not far, I will do it, probably next summer. I often try to make something or repair something by myself. During my PhD dissertation, cooperated with Yongxin Tang, we have made a series of instruments including the rubbing machine, the pretilt angle measuring instrument by crystal rotation method and the apparatus for electro-optical response determination. Building those instruments not only gave us lots of fun and also do much help to our research work and my dissertation.

I made my own GPS by connect a homemade receiver to my palm SJ-22. I need some maps for that, luckily I found a good source for the Canada map. The map can be easily converted to the type which can be used by palm program such as PathAway 3.0. I found the map is very accurate and useful when I drive my car in Canada.

Computer is a useful tool, I often be bored by installing windows. For my notebook, I made a recovery function which hided in the system disk. In the case of virus or some reason that Windows have to be reinstalled, what to do is just reboot computer and hit a key, every thing will be done in a moment. Here is my experience how to do it.
